Like many before me this was my first venture into Cuban cigars and I was not put off by its full, spicy flavour. Its fair to say that as Robusto's go its a yardstick to measure by but in recent years I have noticed a slight increase in construction inconsistencies, in particular tight rolls and the odd plug and at this price point (and with the brands reputation) this needs addressing. When all is said and done a good Cohiba Robusto is very very good .... worth comparing with the Partagas Serie D No.4 and the new Montecristo Open Master.

Almost perfect, a feast of flavours and consistent manufacture. Ageing may improve but I found the RyJ Duke to be quality straight out of the box.

Duncan's review tempted me to comment on the Edmundo. In my humble opinion it is one of the finest cigars Montecristo has ever produced .... but as many have already suggested it needs time to mature. Straight of a new box they give little in terms of flavour .... time in the humidor improves taste and burn dramatically and a little experimentation leads me to suggest that 20c and 70% are the magic numbers. Two years in they are fabulous ...

I cant disagree with reviewers comments in relation to flavour but its fair to say I have had issue with the BRCs construction on a regular basis. In the box they consistently look fabulous but their performance when lit can vary wildly .... from the solidly plugged to the odd alarmingly fast burner. Good examples are undoubtedly fine cigars but I've thrown too many away after 5 minutes and several cuts to award top marks.

Simply fabulous .... a rare venture for me into this "price and size" but so far I have not been disappointed (2 down ... 8 maturing). Medium to full without being overwhelming this cigar needs your undivided attention for a good hour and can certainly be classed as a three stage smoke. The first third is light and almost peppery, the middle livens up the spice and the final third is rich and intense. Manufacture looks good and I found the draw to be confident ... can burn slightly uneven if you are a perfectionist.
