H. Upmann is a historic Cuban cigar brand that has been producing premium cigars for over 175 years. The brand was founded in 1844 by a German businessman named Herman Upmann, who moved to Havana to establish a shipping company. Upmann was a passionate cigar smoker himself and realized the potential of the local tobacco industry.

Initially, Upmann produced cigars as gifts for his customers and friends. However, he soon realized that there was a growing demand for quality cigars around the world. Upmann established a cigar factory in Havana and began producing high-quality cigars using the finest tobacco leaves from the region.

The cigars quickly gained a reputation for their superior quality and taste, and soon became a popular choice among the European aristocracy. In 1845, Upmann was awarded the prestigious title of Supplier of the Royal Court of Spain, cementing the brand's status as a premium cigar manufacturer.

Over the years, H. Upmann continued to innovate and expand its product line. In the 1920s, the company introduced machine-made cigars to meet the growing demand from mass markets. However, the brand continued to produce hand-rolled cigars for its discerning customers.

In 1960, the Cuban Revolution led to the nationalization of the H. Upmann factory and the brand's assets were seized by the government. The company continued to produce cigars under state ownership, but the quality and consistency of the cigars declined.

In the 1990s, H. Upmann was acquired by the tobacco giant, Altadis. The brand was revitalized and began producing premium cigars once again, using the finest tobacco leaves from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua.

Today, H. Upmann is widely considered to be one of the leading cigar brands in the world, renowned for its rich flavor and impeccable craftsmanship. The brand offers a range of premium cigars, including the Upmann Magnum 46, the Upmann Sir Winston Churchill, and the Upmann Magnum 54.
