John F. Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States, was well known for his love of cigars. He was often seen smoking them in public and private, and he is said to have consumed around 1,000 cigars per year.
Kennedy's favorite cigar brand was reportedly the H. Upmann brand, particularly the No. 4 size. He also enjoyed other Cuban cigars such as the Montecristo, Romeo y Julieta, and Cohiba.
Kennedy's love of cigars was not without controversy, however. In the midst of the Cuban Missile Crisis, he reportedly ordered his press secretary, Pierre Salinger, to obtain 1,200 H. Upmann Petit Coronas, fearing that a possible US military strike against Cuba could result in a shortage of the cigars.
Despite this controversy, Kennedy's love of cigars continues to be celebrated by many cigar enthusiasts today.
