Montecristo Cigars History

Montecristo cigars are among the most well-known and respected premium cigar brands in the world. The brand was established in Cuba in 1935 and is named after the novel "The Count of Monte Cristo" by Alexandre Dumas.

The Montecristo brand was created by Alonso Menendez and Pepe Garcia, who were both prominent figures in the Cuban cigar industry. They wanted to create a cigar that would be a luxurious smoking experience, and they succeeded.

Montecristo quickly became a popular brand among cigar aficionados, and it wasn't long before the brand gained a reputation for excellence. In the 1960s, however, the Cuban Revolution caused the brand to move to the Dominican Republic. Today, Montecristo cigars are produced by Altadis, a company that was formed through a merger between the Spanish tobacco company Tabacalera and the French tobacco company SEITA.

Montecristo cigars are known for their rich flavor and complex aroma, which come from a blend of the finest tobacco leaves from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and Peru. The cigars are hand-rolled using traditional techniques and are available in a variety of shapes and sizes, from the classic Churchill to the smaller Petit No. 2.

Over the years, Montecristo has expanded its product line to include a range of cigar accessories, including humidors, cutters, lighters, and ashtrays. The brand has also collaborated with other companies to create limited edition cigars, such as the Montecristo Epic Craft Cured and the Montecristo Espada.
